Who you'd actually be working for
ShearQuery is a directory of barbershops, salons and beauty businesses across Texas. Shops and salons on the platform tell us when they have chairs, booths, or staff positions open, and we match licensed professionals to them. You are not being hired by the agency — you're being placed with a shop. Pay structure depends on the shop: some hire hourly or salaried, many rent chairs or booths, and some work on commission. We tell you which is which before you ever walk in.
This posting is for barbers: clipper work, fades, tapers, line-ups, beard and razor services, under a Texas barber license. If you hold a cosmetology license and work primarily in color, chemical services or extensions, the salon-side posting is the better fit.

The work
- Fades, tapers, line-ups and scissor work on a walk-in or booked clientele
- Beard shaping, razor shaves and hot-towel services where the shop offers them
- Building your own book — most shops let you keep and grow your clients
- Sanitation and station upkeep to Texas TDLR standards
- Working the shop's booking system, whether that's an app or a walk-in board
What you need
- Active Texas barber license, or class-A barber certificate in hand
- Confident with clippers: fades, tapers and line-ups without supervision
- Reliable on a schedule — shops lose money on an empty chair
- Comfortable talking to clients and handling rebooking
- 0–3 years behind the chair, including recent graduates
Nice to have, not required

- · Enrolled barbers finishing their hours — several shops take apprentices
Experience level: entry to mid
Most of the openings we're filling suit 0–3 years behind the chair, including new graduates and professionals who just passed their state boards. A few shops want someone with an established book of clients — those are marked as such when we match you. If you're still finishing hours, create your listing now; several shops take apprentices and will hold a chair for a licensed start date.
